Individual Spiritual Adoption

The Nemenhah Constitution restricts membership in the Band to those who have been duly adopted by the Elected Principle/Medicine Chief, in accordance with the Five-fold Mission of the Band.  Any person may request Spiritual Adoption from the EPMC of the Band.  To be approved, however, one must be a Healer who fits into one of the categories below, and one must make certain Declarations of Intention which are described in the following:

1) As a Healer of human beings or animals.  These are Medicine Men and Women of the Nemenhah whose focus is in relieving the suffering of people or animals.
2) As a Healer of family.  These are Medicine Men and Women of the Nemenhah Band who focus their ceremonial healing in family issues and in healing the values of family life.
3) As a Healer of community.  These are Medicine Men and Women of the Nemenhah Band whose focus is more toward  building up the Lodges, Communities, General Councils, and so forth, of the Band.
4) As a Healer of Society.  These are Medicine Men and Women of the Nemenhah Band whose focus is more toward social situations and systems.
5) As a Healer of the Planet.  These are Medicine Men and Women of the Nemenhah Band whose focus is on restoring men and women to sustainable shepherding of the Mother Earth and to responsible use of her resources and abundance.

If you can place yourself in one, or a combination of, the categories above, and if you can honestly and courageously declare to the world that natural healing comprises part of your spiritual orientation, that you will FIRST DO NO HARM, that you will dedicate yourself to completing the Core Curriculum modules the EPMC recommends for your category, and that you will faithfully support the Nemenhah Seminary Program with your generous donations, then your request for Spiritual Adoption will be approved by the EPMC.

Concerning the Sacred Giveaway:  Many people have asked us to suggest an Offering Amount for Spiritual Adoption.  This can only be by way of suggestion.  We would prefer that all people prayerfully consider their circumstances and make the Sacred Giveaway Offering that is most appropriate to the guidance the personally receive.  If this is a difficult paradigm for you, simply make the suggested offering and work toward change.

Donations are a strictly personal matter.  Most Nemenhah Members make continued Sacred Giveaway Offerings to help sustain and support the Seminary Program.  The most customary yearly offering has been $100.00.  However, others have been guided to offer $10.00 or $20.00 per month.  Still others have made larger or smaller offerings as they have been able.

The Band charges NO FEES and membership is permanent with very few exceptions.  The Seminary Program is entirely supported by the generosity of the Band Members.  All offerings are gratefully accepted and are appropriated as Tithes and Offerings for the support of the EPMC and such Mentors, Roadmen and Roadwomen as is deemed necessary and expedient by the Peli Council.
